At Carpenter’s Square, we serve through our faith in Jesus and focus on four areas:

Youth, Education, Support, and Community

We partner with Next Level Skills Basketball Academy for our youth to provide coaching, college readiness, and spiritual formation. We also partner with the Nashville Central Christian Warriors basketball league and serve as their home gym space as well as serving the community together. Our scholarship and affordable housing programs set up college students for success. Every summer we offer our unique Foundations program for kids in our community that includes bible lessons, games, cultural speakers, dinner and food boxes. We also sponsor a sports camp in the summer with Lipscomb University and a futsal league with Trevecca University.  Our newest youth program is Grace Notes, where kids K-8th grade can learn to play an instrument or be part of our multicultural children’s choir. Students can also participate in our summer music camp in June. As a sponsor of one of the first bilingual Girl Scout troops in Nashville, we know that knowledge, along with strong mentors and spiritual guidance, will help the youth in our community excel and strive to achieve a higher education and beyond.

Our Education programs include ESL classes, cultural competency training, bible studies, and cultural events through Casa de la Cultura.  We also offer free weekly citizenship classes. Helping our neighbors achieve literacy through ESL or tutoring is an area we will be expanding as we know this is the path to better jobs and a better life for our neighbors who were born here or are from another country.

We see the need for Support services every day. We currently hold nine AA meetings a week with 500 guests attending.  As a partner with Restore Small Groups, we offer Christian support groups that provide hope and healing communities through the Journey to Freedom books and curriculum.  The program is also offered in Spanish as Restauración with small groups meeting throughout the week. Family and Children’s Services has a bilingual counselor on our site that serves Hispanic victims of crime.

Our Community outreach include special one-time events that reach out and provide needed services to those who live nearby, as well as providing events that celebrate the many cultures and rich diversity in our neighborhood.  We offer free community lunches every Tuesday and Wednesday, a back-to-school event where we give free supplies to area students, Trunk or Treat, a community Christmas party, Easter egg hunt, cultural celebrations such as our Fiesta Familiar, and health and dental clinics throughout the year. We also host the Años Plateados (Latino senior group) and provide space for parenting programs through The Family Center. We look for opportunities to serve by providing a safe and Christ-centered space for weddings, funerals, and other needs in our building. Christ for the Nations Church also meets at Carpenter's Square serving the nations in our community.

By focusing on the four areas of youth, education, support and community, we do what we do best: love our neighbors, serve our community, and meet specific needs, while shining our lights for Christ in the South Nashville community.
